There has been a tremendous growth in the world of event planning and especially wedding planning. A wedding planner is an individual who plans, designs, implements and manages a wedding and generally works for a wedding planning or event management company. A wedding planner may also be self employed and run his/her own business. A wedding planner needs to be very creative and should possess exceptional organizational and managerial skills.

Education and Training Required:

To become a wedding planner, one might want to earn a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or a related field, but there are no formal educational requirements to be eligible for this field. Those working independently must have a proper knowledge of running a business and handling finances etc.

Getting the Job:

To get the job as a wedding planner, one can first work as an event planner for a few years and then specialize in the field of wedding planning. An interested candidate can also apply for the job by sending an application to a wedding planning or event planning company.

Advancements, Possibilities and Employment Outlook:

Since the field of wedding planning is growing by the day, there is no dearth of opportunities as a wedding planner. Infact, there is tremendous scope to grow and learn within this field.  The employment outlook looks pretty good and is Infact expected to grow in the coming few years.

Working Conditions:

Wedding planners have to work in a variety of settings such as offices, wedding venue sites and also require visiting clients in order to discuss details. Their job does not limit itself to the 9-5 work timings but may rather stretch beyond that as well.

Earnings and Benefits:

The average median salary of a wedding planner is $46020 but this figure may vary for independent wedding planners and those employed at wedding planning companies.
